In chapter 1, Nick has dinner with his cousin Daisy, her husband Tom, and Daisy's friend Jordan. Which of those four people would you MOST enjoy having dinner with? Which of the four would you LEAST enjoy sharing a meal with? Defend your answers with specific details or quotations from chapter 1.

I would want to have dinner with daisy just so I could actually understand her and why she is still with tom after everything he has done to her. I would also like to find out why she isn't involved with her daughter like a real mother should be and why a nurse is taking care of the child instead. I would least like to have dinner with tom because he is very disrespectful and he tries to be intimidating. He cheats on his wife so what makes a girl think that he wouldn’t try to come after her too? They both however are very interesting characters in their own twisted forum because Daisy is a “beautiful fool” and tom is just a “blinded by money jerk” which in both cases makes them both not such great people at all because they do nothing and have a love hate relationship with the world.

I wouldn't mind having dinner with either nick or daisy. But if I had to choose one, I would pick daisy. She seems really sweet and I think it would be easier to carry on a conversation with her. Nick as well. One person who I wouldn't want to have dinner with would be tom. Daisy’s husband. He seems to care just about money and the lifestyle he is living. He doesn’t really seem open to anyone who isn't wealthy like him. Also having him answer the phone during dinner would make me mad. Especially if I knew what he answered it for. He having another mistress in New York means that he went behind his wife’s back and cheated on her. He also seems to be all about himself. Only caring for who is his, how much money he has, and what he does with it. So I wouldn't really enjoy having a dinner with a person like that.

I would want to have dinner with Jordan because she seems to be the quietest and more respectful one, the one i would least enjoy having dinner with is Tom because he seems very disrespectful and he cheats on his wife all the time, and hes on the phone during dinner.

I would most want to have dinner with Nick because he seems the most intelligent. I would prefer to have a conversation with someone who can understand the things I say and can get into a fun argument with. It would be fun to talk with him and see the things he enjoys to do and where he came from. I would least like to have dinner with Tom because he is a rude, inconsiderate, pompous little fool of a man. He thinks that everyone must agree with what he says because he is the man with the most money in the room. He is also has a presence about him that he tries to shove in everyone's face. He likes to talk about himself a lot and just seems like poor company to have.

Out of those for people I would most likely like to have dinner with Nick because he comes from a prominent family and is smart. He also seems to be non-judgment person and is apart from the other people of east egg. Nick also seems to have a few flaws. I would least enjoy having dinner with because he is a erragent person who cheats on his wife and is a very wealthy man. He spends all his money on a girl he is cheating on his wife with and treats his wife poorly and doesn’t even love his mistress. So this is why I would choose to have dinner with Nick than Daisy’s husband Tom. They are obviously two different people.

i would most likely to have dinner with Jordan because shes so quiet and i would like to talk to her and get to know her better. The least i would have dinner with is Tom because he cheats on his wife, he lies and hes rude. i wouldn't have dinner with a rude person.

I would like to have dinner with Nick. Mainly just because I wouldn't want to have dinner with the rich people. I don't want to hear the same stories over and over again. I wouldn't want to feel insecure in a house that I can't have.

I would want to have dinner with Daisy because she seems like she has all these emotions hidden and she lets her husband walk all over her and also because she seems like a sweet person. I wouldn't want to have dinner with tom because he's a cheater I could never respect him he has a family and is more worried about other women then taking care of his wife and daughter not just physically but mentally.

I would least like having dinner with Nick, Tom, or Jordan. I would enjoy having dinner with Daisy the most. I would ask her some questions. I would also want to understand her more, their relationship doesn't seem to be the happiest when it comes to each other since the phone call at dinner and what Jordan told Nick suggests that he is also seeing some girl in New York, and I understand they have a child but that doesn't mean they have to be with each other so I would ask why she stays with him.

I'd enjoy having dinner with Jordan Baker she seems to be the laid back one. Rather than Tom, beings that he's really rude towards his wife. Tom Buchanan has horrible table manners, he keeps leaving dinner to talk to his many mistress's on the phone. As for that matter his not being to honest with his wife anyway, because he lies and tries to amount.. "The butler came back and murmured something close to Tom's ear, whereupon Tom frowned, pushed back his chair, and without a word went inside. As if his absence quickened something within her, Daisy leaned forward again, her voice glowing and singing".

I agree with all of you about not wanting to have dinner with Tom, for obvious reasons. I would probably open my mouth and call him out on being a jerk, and then who knows what would happen. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all, right? :-)
